Over the next four years, Canada, together with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), will assist women and girls affected by irregular migration and forced displacement in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. The government has allocated $10 million for this enterprise.
The project is meant to address the situation of persons in need of international protection, internally displaced persons, women and girls at risk of displacement, refugees and asylum seekers. It is expected to help improve living conditions and protection mechanisms for some 5,000 women and girls.
