Why There Has Been No Express Entry Draw

As of now, there hasn’t been an Express Entry draw this month, and anticipation is building among applicants, given that the last draw took place on October 26, 2023. Although Express Entry draws typically occur every two weeks, it’s worth noting that the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has previously deviated from this schedule, occasionally skipping biweekly draws. This occasional variation is not unprecedented.

Two potential explanations for the absence of an Express Entry draw could be:

  1. Technical Malfunction in the Express Entry System: A glitch or technical issue within the Express Entry system may be causing the delay. In such cases, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) might choose to withhold draws until the system is fully operational to ensure a fair and accurate selection process.
  2. Revision of Qualification Occupations Certificates: The IRCC may be in the process of revising or updating the list of occupations eligible for qualification in the Express Entry system. This revision could involve a thorough assessment and adjustment of the occupations considered, possibly to align with current labor market demands or changing immigration priorities. Such revisions might temporarily suspend draws during the adjustment period.

Forecasting the Next Express Entry Draw

Despite the absence of an Express Entry draw due to an ongoing system glitch, we foresee a prompt resolution to the issue and a subsequent resumption of draws. Regardless of the cause, it is expected that the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cutoff will likely see an increase compared to what would have been observed.

Hoping for a smooth continuation, we trust that the IRCC won’t skip the draw in the next few weeks, as any further delay could result in a heightened CRS cutoff score.
