BREAKING NEWS: Canada conducts inaugural Express Entry draw since October 2023

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) extended invitations to candidates in the latest Express Entry draw. The department issued 4,750 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a comprehensive all-program draw. Prospective candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 561 for consideration.

Marking the first draw since October 26, the recent Express Entry draw saw Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) addressing concerns. On November 14, IRCC tweeted about challenges some applicants faced with the Express Entry Profile Builder, preventing them from submitting their applications. A subsequent tweet on November 16 confirmed the resolution of the issue. While it remains unclear if this technical problem contributed to the extended gap in draws, the department has since taken steps to rectify the situation.

In the latest draw on October 26, a total of 3,600 candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a category-based selection draw specifically targeting healthcare occupations. Prospective candidates needed to attain a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 431 for consideration.

Notably, two additional draws took place within the same week. On October 25, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) extended invitations to 300 candidates in a category-based selection draw for individuals showcasing proficiency in French. A minimum CRS score of 486 was required for eligibility in this particular draw.

In the final draw of the series on October 24, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) granted invitations to 1,548 candidates in an exclusive Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-only draw. As part of the criteria, candidates were required to achieve a minimum score of 776.

It’s noteworthy that Express Entry candidates nominated through the PNP automatically receive an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. This substantial point boost contributes to the elevated minimum CRS score for draws of this nature.
