As the expiration date of Canada’s current Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot draws near, Canada has unveiled new and improved caregiver pilot programs.
The current pilot programs are scheduled to conclude on June 17. In their stead, the new pilot initiatives will bestow permanent resident status upon home care workers upon their arrival in Canada, eliminating the need for a specific duration of work experience within the country. Additionally, they will have the authorization to work for organizations offering temporary or part-time care to individuals who are semi-independent or recuperating from an injury or illness.
To qualify, caregivers must:
- Achieve at least level 4 proficiency according to the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).
- Possess the equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma.
- Demonstrate recent and pertinent work experience.
- Secure an offer for a full-time home care position.
