As of November 15, New Brunswick has suspended several immigration streams after reaching the annual candidate allocation.
New Brunswick Atlantic Immigration Program
The AIP is a pathway for skilled workers seeking to settle in Atlantic Canada. To qualify, a foreign national must have a job offer from a designated employer in the region.
The province has announced that it is no longer accepting or processing Employer Expressions of Interest (EOIs) under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). New Brunswick will still process applications from candidates who have submitted complete Employer Designation requests. Additionally, candidates who have received an Employer Invitation to Apply (ITA) can still proceed with submitting their Employer Designation application. The province has urged candidates to keep checking its website for any updates or changes.
New Brunswick Private Career College Graduate Pilot
New Brunswick has paused issuing new nomination certificates under this pilot program.
Candidates with an ITA can still submit their full nomination application. However, those who miss the 90-day eligibility window once nominations resume in January will no longer be eligible for a provincial nomination and will need to find alternative pathways.
The New Brunswick Private Career College Graduate Pilot Program targets international graduates from select one- and two-year programs in priority fields like education, IT, business, and healthcare, who are ineligible for the federal Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Exploratory visit connection under New Brunswick Strategic Initiative
The province has announced the suspension of the Exploratory Visit component under the New Brunswick Strategic Initiative, and no new ITAs will be issued.
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) already in the system will remain valid for 365 days from submission and will be considered if the stream reopens during this period. EOIs submitted before March 12, 2024, will not be considered.
The New Brunswick Strategic Initiative targets French-speaking foreign nationals. The Exploratory Visit component is for candidates outside Canada, requiring an in-person visit to the province within 12 months of submitting an EOI. The visit must last at least five business days and focus on employment-related research, with a report submitted as part of the application.
Candidates interested in settling in New Brunswick can still apply if they meet the criteria for one of the following connections:
- Have a job or valid job offer from a New Brunswick employer; or
- Meet one of the following New Brunswick priorities:
- Graduated from Université de Moncton or CCNB within the past 6 months;
- Lived and worked remotely in New Brunswick for 12 months with a Canadian company outside Quebec;
- Received a letter of interest from a New Brunswick Immigration Officer.
